Wolly: amazingly simple legwarmers
A very simple project for beginning knitters: ribbed legwarmers. A quick knit if you need a last minute gift or an instant gratification project.

Material
- 100g Boston by Lana Grossa in gray (discontinued)
Fiber content: 49% Wool, 48% Acrylic, 2% Polyamide, 1% Elastan
Yardage: ca. 100m/50g (109 yards/50g)Ideas for substitue yarns: Mega Stoppino or Mille by Lana Grossa
- Needles in sizes 5mm and 6mm (US 8 and US 10)
- a darning needle
Gauge
In stockinette stitch, knit with 6mm needles (US 10):
15 stitches and 24 rows = 10 cm (4″)
Finished size
To fit an adult. About 40 cm (16″) long.

Instructions
Cast on 46 stitches with needles size 5 mm (US 8).
Row 1: P2, *k2, p2, repeat from *, end with k1, k1b.
Row 2: P1, k1, *p2, k2, repeat from *, end with p1, k1b.
Repeat rows 1 an two until piece measures about 14 cm (6″). Change to needles in size 6 mm (US 10) and continue knitting with these needles. This way, the legwarmers will be a little wider at the top to fit your calves better, but you don’t have to work any shaping!
Repeat rows 1 and two until piece measures about 40 cm (16″). Bind off all stitches loosely in pattern.
Finishing
Close back seam using the mattress stitch. Weave in ends.
